Agricultural technology has a translation problem. A great deal of capable equipment and software exists, and most of it was designed for properties with different scale, different regulation, different connectivity and different seasonal patterns to those in Australia and New Zealand.
Our work in this sector is mostly adaptation and integration rather than invention: taking established sensing, irrigation and monitoring capability and making it work under local conditions, then connecting it to the business systems where planning, compliance and financial decisions actually get made.
The technical constraint that shapes most of these projects is connectivity. Systems designed on the assumption of a reliable connection behave badly on a property where that is not available, and designing for intermittency from the start is considerably cheaper than retrofitting it.

Learn moreNot usually, and not by preference. Established solutions exist for most of this; the work that adds value is adapting them to ANZ conditions, regulations and equipment, and integrating them with the systems a business already runs.
It is a design constraint rather than a blocker, and it is one of the most common differences between technology built overseas and technology that works here. Intermittent connectivity has to be assumed in the architecture rather than treated as a fault condition.
That is usually where the value is realised. Field data that never reaches planning, finance or compliance reporting stays an interesting dashboard, so integration is part of the work rather than a later phase.
